PVR-INOX LULU GROUP

The Lulu MyMoon Cinemas renovation reimagines one of Kerala’s most recognized cinema destinations into a contemporary entertainment hub. Commissioned by the Lulu Group, the project transforms an existing two-screen theatre complex into a vibrant five-screen multiplex, significantly increasing capacity while enhancing the overall movie-going experience. The design carefully balances modernization with the cultural significance of a venue that has long been part of the city’s collective memory.

The architectural intervention focuses on adaptive reuse, maximizing the potential of the existing structure while minimizing demolition and construction waste. A new contemporary façade establishes a bold urban identity through a dynamic composition of perforated metal panels and glazed surfaces that reveal the activity within, creating a lively dialogue between the building and the street. A generous entrance canopy enhances the arrival experience and reinforces the cinema as a public destination.

Internally, the circulation has been completely reorganized to accommodate five auditoriums, improving visitor movement, operational efficiency, and flexibility without compromising comfort. Public spaces are designed to feel open and inviting, encouraging interaction before and after screenings. The project demonstrates how strategic renovation can extend the life of an existing building while meeting the demands of modern entertainment, creating a contemporary multiplex that respects the legacy of an iconic theatre while preparing it for a new generation of audiences.
